Last week I suggested that if you want to drastically change your diet, and what you eat, you should not do so unless you really study what you are trying to accomplish. Then set out steps to get there successfully.
In my opinion the VEGETARIAN DIET is a good example of that. People become vegetarians for different reasons:
- Some don’t like the thought of animals being killed for our nutritional benefit;
- For others there is a spiritual component linking the elimination of animal products, especially meat, to achieving a more enlightened mindset;
- Then there are those who have been told that not eating meats and saturated fats will clean the arteries, avoiding strokes and heart attacks.
The list will go on a little longer and can get more personal.
Vegetarianism dates back to civilizations of ancient India and Greece almost 3,000 years ago. According to research, the diet was closely connected with the idea of non-violence toward animals, and was promoted by religious groups and philosophers.
For those interested, most dietary supplements are from non-animal sources. We have a wide selection for you …at the Gesundheit! Nutrition Center on North 19th Avenue.
